A First at OzU: "Being an Engineer" Held as Carbon Neutral Course!

Dear Members of the OzU Community,

During the FE101 "Being an Engineer" course on March 21, 2025, Dr. Göktürk Poyrazoğlu from the Faculty of Engineering welcomed representatives from the firm "Committed," who explained how Committed helps individuals and organizations calculate and offset their carbon footprints through voluntary carbon certificates. The Sustainability & QHSE Department also shared insights about Özyeğin University's institutional carbon footprint calculation and its results, and responded to questions from participants.

For the first time, our event was hosted as a carbon-neutral event, as a testimony of our commitment to raising awareness of sustainability.  The carbon footprint generated throughout the event was calculated and offset with an additional margin (1 ton CO₂ equivalent). This offset was achieved with the support of Committed, by contributing to a renewable energy project to minimize our environmental impact.  The offsetting process was completed through Gold Standard-certified carbon credits, and the respective certificate is attached for your reference.
